There was pandemonium at Elechi beach axis of Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday as two factions (D12 and BS houses ) of Deygbam cult groups engaged in shoot out over control of illegal bunkering activities in the area.
Business and social activities on the area were grounded to a halt as residents hurriedly flee their houses and shops to avoid being hit by bullets.
It was gathered that the clash between D12 and BS houses of Deygbam cult groups was the third within the last six months.
It was learnt that the latest clashes which started last Saturday may have claimed two lives.
Our correspondent reports that some Police patrol vans were seen moving into the area amidst sporadic shootings by the combatants on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the clash between the two factions of Deygbam cult group.
She said it was a supremacy battle between suspected D12 and BS faction of the gang .
The Police image maker, however, claimed that no death was recorded in the clashes.
She added that normalcy has returned to the area.
This, she said, was because two patrol vans from Divisional Police headquarters, Mile 1 Diobu have been deployed to the area on the orders of Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon.
