The Ogun State Ministry of Forestry has revealed plans to embark on massive plantation of trees in line with its objectives for the 2023 financial year.
The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Engr. Oludotun Taiwo, gave the assurance recently.
He spoke while giving the performance of the Ministry between January and March 2023 during the ongoing budget performance appraisal by the House Ogun House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Forestry chaired by Hon. Sylvester Abiodun.
Engr. Taiwo, who presented the Ministry’s record of performance between January and March 2023, stated that the Ministry was working hard on how to improve on its revenue and boost its afforestation programmes.
The Commissioner added that the Ministry had generated over N80.7m within the period under review, while recurrent expenditure for the period stood at N125.2m.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abiodun enjoined the Ministry to improve on its revenue drive without inflicting unnecessary hardship on the people .
Also, the State Forestry Plantation Project, Area-J4 had its budget performance appraised by the State lawmakers.
