Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, a former Minister of State for Information and Communication and candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has defeated Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the battle for Zamfara Central Senatorial seat.
Bilbis was declared winner of the election after Saturday’s Supplementary election with 102,866 votes.
Marafa who was his closest challenger in the election scored a total of 91,216 votes in the election, according to result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The returning officer, Prof. Kabiru Abdullahi of the Federal University, Gusau, while announcing the results, said Ikra Aliyu Bilbis having scored the highest number of lawful votes cast and satisfied the requirement of the law was returned elected.
Bilbis joined the PDP last year from APC.
