Alexx Ekubo: Leo DaSilva warns Nigerians about blood relatives

Big Brother Naija reality star, Leo DaSilva, has advised Nigerians to clearly document their wishes before death following the family dispute involving late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo.

DaSilva, in a post shared on social media, said blood relationship does not always mean loyalty, love or genuine family connection.

His comment came amid the controversy trailing the death and burial of Ekubo, who died in May 2026 after battling kidney cancer.

The actor was buried in his hometown on June 18, 2026.

Few days after the burial, reports of disagreement among members of his family emerged, with his biological mother’s relatives reportedly calling out his stepmother, who was said to have raised him from childhood.

The dispute also raised questions over the circumstances surrounding his death and why some family members were allegedly not allowed to see his corpse.

The matter reportedly escalated after Alexx’s elder sister allegedly contacted a blogger to publish claims against the stepmother, whom the actor had publicly acknowledged as his mother.

Reacting to the development, some Nigerians questioned why the actor’s biological mother’s family was speaking out after his death, while others linked the controversy to possible issues around his estate.

In his reaction, DaSilva advised people to consider recording video wills to avoid confusion after their death.

“I wish people understand that blood relatives can still mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. They could be your enemies and they could actually not even be in your life,” he wrote.

“This is why I always suggest video wills. Make a video of exactly what you expect after your death so that people don’t confuse your enemies for your family because of relation by blood.”

DaSilva had earlier disclosed in February 2025 that he was already making plans to prepare his children for his death.
