Toyin Abraham reveals husband’s warning that made her quit cigarettes

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has revealed how her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, influenced her decision to stop smoking cigarettes.

The actress said Ajeyemi, whom she described as one of the best things that ever happened to her, gave her a serious warning after she became pregnant and later gave birth to their child.

Speaking on The Morayo Show, Abraham said her husband made it clear that smoking cigarettes around their child would not be accepted in their home.

“Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He lets me be me. I used to smoke cigarettes. I still smoke vape once in a while. But I stopped smoking cigarettes,” she said.

“My husband told me something when I got pregnant that, ‘You know you can no longer smoke.’”

The actress said the matter became more serious after childbirth when Ajeyemi saw her smoking during an outing.

According to her, he did not react immediately, but later gave her a warning that forced her to rethink the habit.

“When I gave birth, we went out, and he saw me smoking; he did not say anything,” she said.

“But he told me that he did not say I should not smoke cigarettes, but he must not see the butt with his child.

“He warned that anytime he sees such, that would be the end of the marriage.”

Abraham said the warning played a major role in her decision to stop smoking cigarettes.

The actress, who married Ajeyemi in 2019 and welcomed their first child the same year, also praised her husband for allowing her to be herself while still protecting the values of their home.

She further spoke about how Ajeyemi handles her romantic roles in movies.

According to her, her husband is mature enough to understand her profession and does not create unnecessary issues over acting.

“About kissing in movies, my husband is mature. He is not a boy. He is a man,” she said.

“Most of my colleagues’ wives are comfortable with me. I can do every other thing. But promiscuity is not one of them.

“God has blessed me with a platform now; I do not have to kiss anybody like years past.”

Abraham said her marriage has given her support, stability and freedom, while also helping her make better personal decisions.

Her comments come amid renewed attention on celebrity marriages and how public figures balance family life, personal habits and professional demands.

For the actress, Ajeyemi’s influence was not just about marriage, but about motherhood and the kind of example she wanted to set for her child.
