The father of former Ilebaye Odiniya, Emmanuel Odiniya, has spoken out over the viral incident involving his daughter, alleging that he was provoked before a physical confrontation that left members of the family injured.
In a voice note shared on Facebook and widely circulated online, Odiniya claimed the situation was not born out of hatred but from frustration over what he described as a change in his daughter’s behaviour following her rise to fame after winning Big Brother Naija All Stars.
He insisted that he played a significant role in her victory, stating that he mobilised support, including influential contacts, during her time in the reality show.
According to him, their relationship reportedly became strained after her win, as he alleged that she became disrespectful and increasingly distant.
He also accused the reality star of ignoring his attempts to communicate, claiming she often refused to meet him despite arranging multiple appointments on her behalf.
Odiniya further criticised aspects of her lifestyle choices, including alleged cosmetic procedures, saying he had advised her against them due to her age.
In the voice note, he also alleged previous instances of physical altercations, claiming that he had been assaulted by her on earlier occasions.
Speaking about the most recent incident, he alleged that the confrontation escalated after she first insulted and attacked him, leading to injuries on both sides.
He also accused her of financial neglect, claiming she declined to assist him with medical treatment abroad despite his health condition, while referencing her public displays of wealth at social events.
Additionally, he alleged that she had influenced her younger brother negatively and interfered in family matters, including his marriage.
Despite his claims, Odiniya maintained that he still loves his daughter and expressed a desire for reconciliation, adding that law enforcement authorities had already intervened.
The incident reportedly left members of the family injured and required medical attention. The Nigeria Police Force in the Federal Capital Territory confirmed that all parties involved were receiving treatment, while investigations into the matter continue.
