At the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Osas Ighodaro and Veekee James once again delivered one of the night’s most unforgettable fashion moments with two daring couture creations that pushed the boundaries of red carpet design.
Over the years, Veekee James and Osas Ighodaro have become one of the most anticipated designer-muse pairings at the AMVCA, consistently unveiling standout looks that dominate conversations online and offline. This year, however, the duo elevated their collaboration to an entirely new level with two visually striking ensembles photographed by Felix Crown and complemented by makeup artist Damola Adeniji.
The first look featured a dramatic crimson sculptural gown built from layered horizontal red bands placed over a sheer nude base. Each band was detailed with red crystal trims, adding dimension and texture throughout the fitted silhouette. The defining element of the design was its oversized architectural collar, which rose high above the shoulders and framed the face with theatrical precision. In one striking campaign image, the collar was folded entirely over Osas’ face, transforming the outfit into what appeared to be a standalone art installation. Set against a digital red backdrop with concentric circles and heartbeat-inspired graphics, the look embodied avant-garde fashion with a cinematic edge.
The second ensemble introduced an equally daring concept — a silver couture ballgown crafted with 400 repurposed metal sponges. The gown’s fitted corset bodice featured crystal embellishments, sheer detailing, and sculpted accents around the bust, paired with a choker-style chain neckline for added drama. The voluminous pale silver-grey skirt was adorned with circular appliqués created from the metal sponges, meticulously shaped and sewn onto layers of tulle to create a textured, gallery-worthy finish. Complete with a sweeping train, delicate accessories, sheer gloves, and a sleek updo, the look merged sustainability, craftsmanship, and high fashion in a way rarely seen on the AMVCA red carpet.
With these two creations, Veekee James further cemented her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most innovative fashion designers, while Osas Ighodaro once again proved herself the perfect canvas for bold couture experimentation. Their 2026 AMVCA appearance has already been hailed as one of their strongest collaborations yet, leaving fashion enthusiasts eager to see what the duo will unveil next year.
