2027: Presidential Race Not a Game, I’ll Seek Broad Consultation — Jonathan

Jonathan Says He’ll Consult Before Deciding on 2027 Presidential Run, Warns Politics Is “Not a Game”

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said he will consult widely before deciding whether to contest the 2027 presidential election.

He made the remark in Abuja while receiving a group of supporters urging him to join the race, citing widespread national backing and concerns about Nigeria’s future. The group called on him to pick up a party nomination form and run, claiming to represent millions of supporters across the country.

In response, Jonathan emphasized the importance of peace, patriotism, and credible elections in Nigeria, especially for youth participation in the democratic process. He also stressed that political leadership requires serious reflection, saying presidential ambition “is not a computer game.”

The former president concluded that he had heard their appeal but would take time to consult before making any decision, while encouraging young Nigerians to stay engaged in shaping the country’s future.
